What's up with me ... and the blog of course ...

I wanted to offer a short explanation as to why everything has come to a stand still. Truth is I just have alot going on and not much of it is good or happy ... so I just haven't been playing much and when I have had been so absent minded that I have forgotten to take or post the photos.

I will be updating occasionally when I can get the gumption up to do so ... but until then things will not be nearly as active here as they have in the passed. I apologize to all of you loyal followers who wait for the next post ... I would give you a regularly scheduled promise of a post of I could, but for now I just can't.

Hope all of you are out there happy and healthy and loving life ... I am not gone, just taking a bit of a needed break from the non-essentials. I adore you all ... and I am sure you know that :)

I love this quad ... I really do ... it is gorgeous. I have a thing for blues so this fit nicely ... even if it was suppose to be grey :D

As for the lipstick .. I love it in the pics but I promise you it didn't look as good in person on me. Gorgeous colour .. just not for me I don't think ... and the combination with Brick liner didn't work so I had to REALLY blend out the liner.

Purple (pink actually ...) Shower

This is look one featuring the individual shadows from the Makeup Art Cosmetics collection ... and I really like the combo. My original plan was to use all six together ... but I just couldn't coordinate it in a way that made sense to me so I went with splitting the look instead.

My only complaint ... and it really isn't a complaint, just an observation ... is that PURPLE shower isn't purple at all ... it is pink or I am the Virgin Mary!

This quad is a bit of a bust for me ... the highlight colour is fabulous and the darker colour is unique enough ... but the combo together is the Naked Honey collection all over again in every way. I am also not a huge fan of how orange the lippies look on me ... but the blush is great :D

Lots of talk has been about how much of a bust this quad is ... and in swatches it really is disappointing. But ... I have to think that it completely redeems itself on the eyes. Yes, it could use more sparkle ... and it is totally lacking in a suitable highlight for paler chicks ... but with a little Vanilla it is gorgeous!

Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection Swatches & Review!

Yay! Got the cord in for the camera today so I am back and ready to post some stuff.

I figured I would post my review and swatches here (you can also find the swatches on Majyk and Specktra) as repayment for being so patient with me while I was dealing with the camera issue. First ... the swatches ...

The quads: I am sucker for quads so these are getting bought ... but I do have to say that they are not as unique or stunning than the CoC quads from last year.

Notoreity is dupeable for the most part (the brown in it is unlike anything else ... think Trax shadow but with a brown base instead of plum).

In the Gallery has an amazing lilac (the second one down in the picture) and the rest are gorgeous purples ... but it is nothing terrible unique if you have a big collection.

Photo Realism is the most unique and special of the three ... get this one!

The shadows: I have to be honest ... the texture on four of the six of these is horrible ... the only two with easily workable texture are Crest the Wave and Off the Page ... the rest have to be built up.

The combo of these colours is awesome though!

The pigments: Heritage Rouge and Cocomotion are well known repromotes so I am not going to waste many words on them ... pretty ... but not terribly special. I have Cocomotion and it tends to go orange on me.

The other two are gorgeous but not terribly unique ... Push the Edge is MUCH like Grape piggie ... but has more of a blue flash, which I love.

Brash & Bold is very similar to Bright Fuschia but has more of a violet flash.

The glitters: the two Reflects are STUNNING ... the other two are just not special at all. I would get the reflects ... except that I NEVER use the glitters that I have now.

They are not eye safe ... which kinda negates the purpose for me.

The technakohls: I love these ... I really do ... but I am not getting any of them simply because I already have a million pencil liners and I never reach for any of them.

The texture on these is completely smooth but not smudgy ... and the pigmentation on all of them was good to great (Obviously Orange took some building to get that colour ... but the rest were easy).

The blushes: I have zero matte blushes ... so I can't really tell what I think of them because I have no experience with them on my face.

That said, The Perfect Cheek is like Viva Glam II lipstick in a blush ... so I can SO picture that lippie with this blush and a badass smokey eye.

Notable is a gorgeous colour in the pan ... but I am not sure if anyone under an NC/W25 could pull it off. It is very pigmented and has a nice satin matte finish.

The lipsticks: I DO NOT NEED ANYMORE STINKIN' LIPPIES! But dangit I LURVE these. While none of them are terribly unique (except for maybe Hold the Pose because it is kinda mysterious looking) they are just gorgeous.

I am sure I will get them ... and then kick myself later because I DO NOT NEED ANYMORE STINKIN' LIPPIES!

The lipglasses: Did I mention that I don't need more lippies ... I really don't.

Young Thing is nice ... but it is very similar to Bonus Beat from Heatherette and I think it needs more shimmer to be appealing on.

New Spirit is really pretty and has a sparkle that totally rocks, but colours like these tend to go orange on me.

Personal Taste is frikkin' gorgeous ... the sparkle factor is really something else ... but it looks like a million other pinks basically ... though I am afraid it is a tad more special than most of them.

On Display really reminds me of the plum lipglass from BBR (name escapes me at the moment) but is a more luxurious purple ... I am a total sucker for wine lippies so this is a must.

Anyways ... hope that helps. This collection has been out online for a few days and revealed itself in stores today. Go get em'!

On hiatus for a bit ...

Sorry bout this ... been busy and now we have a major camera disaster looming.

Long story short ... my children took my memory card out of my computer and lost it ... or something. So I went and bought a new one (did I mention that I have swatches of the Makeup Art Collection sitting on the damn camera waiting to be uploaded!) only to find out that when they stole the memory card out of the computer they completely busted the computer's memory card reader. Fabulous :(

Yes ... I know what you are going to say ... use the data cable that came with the camera. That is a genius idea ... except for the fact that I bought the camera three years ago, have NEVER taken the cord out of the box and have moved twice in that time so I have NO IDEA where the box is ... and believe me I have looked.

So ... I am ordering a new cord for it ... and then eventually am going to have to take the computer in to have the card reader fixed. Oy to the ve ... I will be back soon ... with GOOD stuff ... I promise :D

Eccentricity

I am slowly but surely making it through all the Colour Craft MES ... I think I only have one more to show you after this (actually wore the other one the other day and it was great ... but my dumb butt forgot to take pics of it!).

This is probably me least fave ... the colour payoff on the darker purple had to be built alot and I just don't like the four colours together. It is one of the only looks I think I have ever done where the black eyeliner just made it too much ... oh well ... better luck next time!

Brand Exploration

A friend of mine who I adore recently started selling Mary Kay ... so being the friend I am and because it takes all of about two ounces of pressure for me to buy makeup I bought a compact with some colours and a lipgloss. First of all ... I had a bit of sticker shock ... $68 for three shadows, a highlight powder, the compact and the gloss ... not sure why it surprised me that MK was so much but it did.

Anyways ... I digress. This is the look I can do with the compact. I LOVE the lipgloss colour ... and texture ... and smell ... LOVE LOVE LOVE the lipgloss. I love the shadow texture too ... just wish I had picked out a darker blue ... but that is not he makeup's fault.

Yet another MES from Colour Craft ... really like this one even if it is more subtle than most of my other preferences. I even went with a coloured liner (don't really like coloured liners on me ... black just works better for me to set the colours off). MAC Heaven!

... in MY HOUSE!!! This is amazing ... truly amazing ... I feel like I have a studio built into my bedroom. This has been a days long project but it is finally done and I am so proud of it. Smokey worked really hard with me to get this done but it was so worth it!

The basis of the whole thing is the IKEA Malm dressing table which is almost seven feet long and absolutely amazing. The rest of it is just my collection and some shelves and stuff from various home improvement stores. I can do anything with this table ... and I absolutely love it!

I love that MAC created these ... the idea of a complete face kit is such a great concept and I am glad MAC is jumping on the bandwagon with these. This was the only one of the three where I didn't already have most or all of the stuff in it so I snatched this up. Nordie's released it early to me (even though they got that memo a little late) and I am glad I got to play today. I really love these together.

I included the side face shot so you could see the beauty that is Shell Pearl beauty powder. It is stunning ... excuse the funny face as I was explaining to a three year old that he could not go shopping without pants on :D

MD Lash Factor progress!

I love this stuff ... I am truly amazed at the results I am getting. I knew it was really working when I could suddenly feel my lashes sans mascara ... before they were so thin and sparse that I couldn't even feel them and now they are most definitely there.

The best part is that I keep getting compliments on them ... most people think I have on falsies. If I didn't know it would hurt like hell I would just tell them to pull on them to prove they are real :D

Anyways ... the product name, as most of you know, is MD Lash Factor by Procyte and can be found in many places. It usually retails for $140 but I got it for $80 at www.101cosmetics.com ... definitely worth every penny and more.

MAC Naked Honey Collection Swatches & Review

The swatches speak for themselves ... I adore this collection ... really really really adore it. These are NOT your typical browns and golds.

Creme De Meil shadow - this is a veluxe pearl ... and it is gorgeous. If you have Dreamaker starflash, this is very similar but this is a deeper gold than Dreamaker.

Pollinator shadow- frost, and very similar to Paradisico except that this isn't anywhere near as much of a pain in the arse. Paradisico is HARDER THAN HADES to work with, and this one, while not perfect, is much easier. Also, it doesn't have the pink tinge than Paradisico does. More of a peach with some gold.

Buckwheat shadow - frost, and brown but an amazing brown! Seriously ... this is a cool brown with warm shimmer if that makes any sense. Like a cool taupe brown with some red and gold interference. Hard to describe, but completely gorgeous.

She's A Star lipglass - this is like What A Do! from BBR without the peachy flashes. Very sheer, but gorgeous. Definitely a great one if you want something that will show your natural lip colour but give you some sheen as well.

Queen Bee lipglass - completely unlike anything else that I have. Really pretty ... has some orange to it but not obnoxious orange. Again, very unique!

Buzz lipglass - OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! This is the star of the entire shebang! This is Coppering eyeshadow in lipglass form ... maybe slightly less red but there is definitely still some red in there and it is SOOO pretty! If you skip this one, you are nuts!

Highlight powders - I realize the swatch makes them look almost the same, but that is just the picture. Golden Nectar is actually significantly darker but not so much that my NC15 self could not wear it. Both are ultra gorgeous even without the overspray. They both have definite gold and peach tones, but Golden Nectar also has some really pretty bronze tones to it. I am getting both ... they are so pretty.

I will review the body products after I get them ... I didn't really play much today. I can tell you that Africanimal fragrance will scare the bejesus out of you in the bottle but completely transforms itself into something sweet and spicy and sexy when you put it on.

NEW Basic Face Routine

I have pretty much completely changed my basic face routine lately so I thought I would post up and tell everyone what I am using since I am too lazy to type it out all the time. My skin is doing really well, which makes me happy and also means that I can use less junk.

1) Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat highlighter/concealer under eyes and on corners of nose and mouth; blend with fingers
2) MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light to conceal and over entire face INSTEAD OF FOUNDATION; use Everday Minerals Eye Buki brush and MAC 182 buffer brush
3) Sephora dark brown brow powder (part of a brow trio that sells for around $10); use MAC 208 brush brush
4) BE Krystal buxom lip polish; this gets the powder off my lips while still leaving the lip lines well concealed and defined and I get that buxom tingle. It also softens my lips up for colour ... I always blot it off before I apply colour.

That is IT! Isn't that awesome!

Also, in case you are wondering why my lashes all of a sudden have oomph I have been faithfully using MD Lash Factor by Procyte for well over a month now and the difference is amazing. Before using this when I washed my face I could never really feel my lashes because they were so sparse and thin. Now when I wash my face I feel like I still have on mascara because my lashes are so long and thick ... that is how I really know it is working. I use it in the morning under my mascara because it doesn't irritate my eyes, but most people do it at night before bed. I am too lazy at night to remember it, hence the morning routine.

Hot Contrast

I had looked at this MES tons of times, but never got it because it just didn't seem great enough to get ... until it was available at a CCO price however. Now that I have it I really love it ... the black is unexpectedly matte, which I hadn't really realized. Mine has alot of red veining on the melange side so that was nice.

Wearing another Chanel Glossimer again ... the wear on it was, once again, horrid. And as much as I like the colour when I put it on it just turns orange eventually. This one is also going back ... and I hate to return makeup since they just toss it and it is such a waste. Oh well ...

Finally got around to using the quad and I really really really love it ... Solar White and Contrast are already two of my faves, so having them in this is fabulous.

I also wore one of my new Chanel glossimers ... and I have to say I think they are going back. The colours are pretty and the sparkles are divine but if I am gonna throw down 27 bucks for a damn lipgloss it better stay put for more than two hours!

And aren't the earring FABULOUS! My lovely friend Joanne made them for me ... I am a June baby and I can't thank her enough for them. Threaders ROCK!

Color Club Electro Candy Nail Lacquer Collection

I haven't really done one of these yet, but I felt the need to express how much I love these. I have a few weaknesses when it comes to colour ... neons and duochrome ... and these puppies have BOTH!!!

They are truly truly stunning ... neon with flashes of other colours. Unlike other neon polishes, these do not dry completely matte, more like a satin finish. With a top coat (any ... but the Vivid topcoat that is a part of the collection is completely awesome!) they are just lit up. This collection is truly amazing ... Scrangie has AWESOME swatches of it here!

My pictures do not hold a candle to hers, but I wanted to take them and post them anyway just to show that I am completely in love with this collection. So far, other than the wheels, I have only used one and my camera doesn't photo purple neon well at all ... my pics make it look WAY more pink. Scrangie's photos are way more accurate.

Yeah ... and with a life like mine sometime you have to fight like one! I like this collection alright ... not the best look in the world but still pretty enough to not regret what I purchased. I hate the packaging ... I mean I REALLY hate it ... but luckily I depotted my shadows so the only thing I really have to worry about looking at regularly is the blush I got :D

Six Year Signature

This was for the Majyk Word game over at our wonderful Majykal forum. I love that place ... I really really do!

OK ... so a long long time ago ... before time was time ... and before I started hoarding makeup like most people hoard oxygen, this is pretty much what I wore everyday in some form or fashion.

I didn't have Vanilla piggie back then, but I did have something very similar. Occasionally I would through a dark or medium brown into the crease, but the lip was always the same ... MAC Pervette l/s everyday for at least six years ... I don't even KNOW how many tubes of this stuff I went through, and it is still near and dear to me.

In case you ever wondered what I wear on days when I don't post a look to the blog ... this is it. Quick ... simple .... and the comfort of an old standby. And yes, I am that ghastly pale on most days

The second installment of my LL palettes series ... again the wearability was great. I am kinda disappointed in the colours though ... when someone says fierce violets I want PURPLE! The mid-tone shade is kinda washed out and the darker one is really sooty. And the lip colours don't seem to match the eyes ... but the blush is, once again, fabulous! At least the overall pic is pretty!

I really love the way this turned out and the shadows were easy to work with ... the star of this palette though is the blush. A little goes a long way and it has such a smooth, polished finish to it. I really am impressed right out of the gate with this.

As for wearability ... Donica came over for dinner tonight at about 6PM ... I put this on at 7AM and only touched up the blush and lips and she thought that I had just done my eyes. No creasing ... no fading ... and the only primer I used were the ones in the palette. I don't have oily lids at all but I do usually have some fading by the end of the day ... way cool!

Here they are ladies ... I finally got mine. I won't really know until I have worn them, but right now I am sufficiently impressed. I don't love them like I do my MAC or CS palettes, but they are WELL worth 32.50 a piece.

I do like that there are the same basics in each palette ... two primers and a liner. If you have oily lids at all (I don't) be prepared to also use another primer or skip these all together though because they are sheer and VERY creamy ... almost slippery in a way. I love that there is a black liner in each ... I tend to think that black liner looks best on anyone and with any look, though coloured liners can be pretty too. I just prefer black so this one makes me happy ... it could stand to be more black and more opaque though.

Basically, all the shadows have good pigmentation and a good enough texture. They are kinda dry compared to most of the shadows I am used to, but not to the point of being chalky. The only exception to this is the lightest colour in the Sultry Blues palette ... that one is chalky but I think that it is because of the glitter in it (not chunky glitter ... but very noticable).

For the most part the lip colours are sheer but really pretty. There seem to be one shimmery and one satin finish lippie and I like all of the colours well enough. They have a very pleasant smell to them ... not waxy or fruity or perfumed, just pleasant.

All in all, I am happy with these ... we will see more when I wear them but for the moment I think they are well worth what I spent for them.

However, the customer service for her site SUCKS! I cannot say enough how rude and short they are if you need to contact ... and that is only IF they return your email. I really hope they work that one out as I adore Lauren for who she is and her story, but think that the people handling her stuff can tarnish her reputation is their customer service does no improve.

MAC Style Warriors Collection: swatches and review

Got to play at the MAC counter today ... got to see this collection an the RR quad (Ah-mazing quad! ... I will post about that one in the appropriate thread).

Anyways ... here goes ... there were gratis marks all over the testers so I couldn't read the finish of the shadows, but the rest I got. Also ... they only got two of the lustre drops in and said that these are the only two they are getting ... I am guessing they are mistaken since the colour story releases for this collection definitely have three colours. Also, they were slammed so I didn't have time to take pics of the packaging ... but I assure you it is every bit as ugly as the pictures make it look.

OK ... the preliminary review.

Eye colours:
-- Bright Future is a great yellow ... reminds me ALOT of Bright Sunshine, which is a Pro only colour. Also similar to Going Bananas ... great if you love yellows, but skipable if you don't.
-- Soft Force is also gorgeous ... this is definitely going to be one of my fave highlights. It reminds me of the A1 colour in the CS 88 US palette.
-- Night Maneuvers is a typical velvet shadow ... harder than hades to get any colour payoff but has a gorgeous depth to it. I will get it just because I have nothing else like it. It is a cross between Dark Edge from the Tempting quad and Apres Ski from the Chill collection.
-- Vibrant Grape is GORGEOUS! It has an awesome sparkle to it and went on with enough colour payoff to make it wearable for the not so brave but can also be built to an amazing bright purple. Definitely great ... and it is a perm pro colour in case you don't want it in the special packaging.
-- Impassioned solar bits is a great colour ... reminds me alot of Moth Brown from the Barbie collection. Too bad the solar bits are so hard to apply ... so much pigment but so much fallout. I will be pressing mine.
-- Bronzescape solar bits ... this is a repromote but it is the only one I didn't get last year so I am getting it now. Definitely bronze and definitely pretty ... but difficult like the other solar bits as well.

Lustre Drops:
-- Bronze Hero is great if you wanna do the Athena goddess of war look ... but otherwise I can't see someone as pale as me using it. For someone with a tan though it would make a FABULOUS body highlighter.
-- Pink Rebel is not really pink ... but is really pretty. I can definitely see me using this during the summer as a cheekbone highlight or even a liquid shadow. Love it ... and even though the bottles for these are small a little goes a LONG way!

Beauty Powder Blushes:
-- Eversun ... why don't I have this???? It is so pretty ... but then again ... it does remind me of several other peachy blushes I already have. I think it is impressive because it has some of the best colour payoff I have seen out of a blush.
-- On a Mission is one of the most gorgeous blushes I have ever seen ... pink and purple and irridescent and gorgeous all at the same time. I can't put it into words and the camera can't capture it ... just get it!

Lip Colours:
-- Tribalist ... gorgeous ... but unless you use it lightly as a lip stain it is going to be DARK! I normally have no problem with dark lips ... but even I am scared of this one.
-- Brave New Bronze is boring ... just boring ... like a nude with added orange. I don't like it ... not one little bit ... and I can't think of anyone that it will look good on. I am sure I am wrong ...
-- Purple Rite is gorgeous ... unlike anything else I can think of. It is like On A Mission in lipstick form ... just get it!
-- Sunsational is a glaze but has an irridescence that makes it amazing! I wish it weren't a glaze because the sparkles in it really set it off ... much like the pearl in Lollipop Loving does for that colour. Definitely get that one too!
-- Fierce & Fabulous is just that ... fierce and fabulous. Really pretty .. somewhere between pink and purple and sparkly. Similar to many but dupeable by none that I can think of.
-- Gold Rebel is pretty ... I can definitely see this making a great simple summer lip ... the swatch says it all on this one.
-- Liberated ... I had heard so many good things about but I am not terrible excited. It looks like a more pigmented Goldirocks ... which on me looks like death warmed up.
-- Style Warrior is like Magnetic Fields shadow in a lipglass ... completely impractical for anyone as pale as I am but I am getting it anyway simply because it is COMPLETELY unlike any other that I have.

Nail Lacquers:
-- Mercenary is the gem of the three ... perfectly opaque in two coats and has some amazing gold and bronze sparkles. I don't have any other nail colour like it.
-- Peaceable is like Beiged Bliss but has more white frost. This is three coats in the swatch but I could have gotten by with two. It is really pretty in sunlight as well.
-- Violet Fire is a disappointment in a way. It is a pretty colour ... but very like lots of others in most lights. In dim light however it takes on a blue sparkle that is really cool ... the bad thing is that even after three coats it was notably sheer.

This collection comes out at Nordie's on May 20th ... a Wednesday strangely enough. Since it is the only thing I am getting at all this month because of the no-buys I am excited about it ... even if I do think the packaging is hideous.

A Rose is a Rose quad swatches and review

This quad is the one that WAS a part of Rose Romance but is now being released on the same day as Style Warriors ... Wednesday, May 20th. I love it ... mainly because I LOVE frost shadows and three of these are frost. This is a Nordie's exclusive BTW ... enjoy!

-- Solar White (frost) is one that I think EVERYONE should have ... it looks like kinda pinkish white in the pan but goes on like white gold. Love it!
-- Seeds of Love (frost) is what we have always wanted Pardisico and Gleam and all those other peachy lustre formula shadows to be but actually blendable and wearable. This is a gorgeous peach and VERY easy to blend.
-- Petal Worship (frost) is alot like Stars N Rockets just with alot more pink than purple ... definitely gorgeous!
-- Contrast (velvet) is the only velvet shadow I actually enjoy using. It is easy to get good payoff, it isn't sooty at all and it goes on fine. It is like a dark blue with a but of violet to it ... love love love this colour.

The name says it all ... it has been about ten years since I went to Atlanta to visit my grandmother and family there ... and I really love it there. Watching a documentary about Stone Mountain today and it reminded me of the fact that we had my birthday there several years when I was growing up. I hope to go back sometime.

Purple People Eater: CSUS Palette Look #2

I have decided to name all of these off of songs that I know and love ... even more of a challenge :D

LOVE these! The darker purple is the colour that drew me to this palette in all of these pictures, and now I know why. I also have to comment on the shadows themselves ... we often think of these types of palettes as cheap and poorly made. I have to say that that is NOT the case with this one. I do not have to build the colours at all and they are as true after a day or work as they were when I first put them on the morning. Blending is effortless with these as well ... I am truly truly impressed with this.

Problems on Deck

These are the pigments featured in the Rose Romance collection ... I love Mutiny even though it does go on more sheer than I had previously thought. Circa Plum however, true to these types of purples and my skin, looks dirty when applied. It is such a pretty pigment in the jar ... but like so many other muddy purples it just doesn't flatter me well.

Also ... please excuse the messy liner ... my child told me in the midst of applying it that it was raining because the sun had run out of batteries ... and I about choked with laughter!

Honestly, this looks is almost identical to the Heat/Element mineralize duo, so if you have that you do not need these two piggies, or vise versa (yeah ... now how often do you hear me say that?!?!? you know I gotta mean it!)

Girl's Day!

So, Donica and I got to hang out at my house all day yesterday and we had a blast playing makeup and just relaxing ... it is scary how alike the two of us are.

We traded some colours, and one of the things that I got from her is Cocomotion pigment. I really like it ... and we got sample of Vanilla piggie on Friday night at the Pro store so I just paired the two. I like the combo ... Vanilla piggie is alot like Solar White frost shadow but also has the added tinge of pink to it.

Also, I got the MUFE (Make Up For Ever) Smoky Lash mascara on Friday (exchanged that infernal BE Buxom Lash mascara for it at Sephora) and OMG! I am not sure if it is the MD Lash Factor treatment starting to work it's magic or this mascara ... but if it IS the mascara this stuff is amazing. Even if it isn't I am extremely happy with it. Lengthened ... and curled ... and volumized. I did have to go slowly with it because the brush is not a separating brush, but it was not hard to work with and the results to me are astounding.

I did this look for this weeks Inspiration game at Majyk and I love the colour combo ... not happy with the dots ... they really messed with me all day! Everytime I looked in the mirror today I thought I had smudged my eye liner something horrible :D

I worked on my brows last night too ... got really annoyed with tweezing because I have the worst household lighting on the planet and finally just broke out the wax strips. I got the bottom cleaned up enough to be happy until I can make it in to get them reshaped. Yay!
